Rumor Has It
Rumor has it that winter is on its way. Watching the weather channel this morning after I feed the dogs, I hear winter weather is coming my way later this week.
In honor of such great news, I took the dogs from a run. We went to our favorite trail (the same one I described in my last post). We arrive, I hooked up the dogs, and we took off. We did not get far when I discover my brake was not working (note to self always check the brake before hooking up the dogs). I had to drag them back to the car, so I could pull out my tool kit and play around with the brake until it was back in working order. I was successful at fixing the brake, so I hooked the dogs back up and headed out on the trail.
I took a different route that avoided the downhill curve I mentioned last time, because there were two women out walking with a dog that would have been near that very spot by time we went up and around the hill. No hill today!
I thought I was safe from disaster and the dogs started running full speed down the trail. I was enjoying the ride and starting to get too relaxed when a chipmunk (brave little devil) ran across the trail right under the dogs’ noses. The dogs made a sharp right to follow the chipmunk while the scooter and I followed the forward moment until we all hit the end of the line. I jumped off the scooter and again found myself hanging on for dear life to a flying scooter.
I have to drag the dogs back on to the trail. Blizzard spent the next few minutes looking back in hopes of getting another glimpse of her new little friend. Thankfully, Flurry is not as prey driven and is able to move on after incidents with animals like this one. This really helps keep Blizzard going, otherwise we would still be standing on the trail looking back to see that darn chipmunk.
I hope I can share stories of snow soon. I am still looking for the perfect sled. A used sled would be great, but if I cannot find one soon I am going to breakdown and buy one new.
