Dog Tired

Blizzard and Flurry are both sound asleep next to me on the sofa. I am ready to sleep myself.

We hit the trails today. The trail was blown-over, with some deep spots. I got my share of running in. My legs are tired and sore. It is a lot of work running in loose snow with big boots on.

The girls had a good time and even stopped to wrestle for a while. I joined in, too. What a sight in could have been, to see the three of us wrestling in the snow, had anyone else actually been outside today.

Back to work tomorrow…a chance to rest. My coworkers will be happy to see I survive the weekend without any frostbite.

Cold Winter Race

I thought I would take a few minutes this cold winter morning of -9 degrees, to tell you about our race yesterday. Blizzard and Flurry are making a come back. They ran really well, pulling all the way. If I could have run up the hills faster, perhaps we could have done even better.

It was only a few degrees out, with a wind chill of -15 degrees (or something ridiculously cold compared to our average temperatures). Waiting for the race to start, my feet keep getting cold. Even in the starting chute, I pulled my thumbs into my mittens to try to warm them up quick. As we got the count down to go, I stuck them back out and ran the first mile thinking my thumbs were going to freeze off. After running up a hill or two, I was nice and warm.

We of course stopped for some bathroom breaks during the run; we can’t ruin that tradition. The winning team passed us at about a half mile away from the finish and we could see the team ahead of us at about that same time.

The good news is we placed just high enough to win a check, which paid for the entry fee and the gas to drive up to the event. It was a free day of fun for the dogs and I.
